Hankins Garage c.1922. Mr T C Hankin moved his motor workshop from behind the Swan Hotel in 1913 to this site in West Street having purchased a former Traction Engine Workshop and the Pig Shed behind for the sum of £400. Before this date apprentices collected fuel in 2 gallon cans from the Railway Station and in 1923 a car hit the pumps and subsequently they had to be housed inside the building which 90 years later was partially responsible for the shutdown of the garage.
