A 049

This view taken from the church tower in 1906, shows the old police station (later replaced with a post-war building and now developed as a block of apartments). The old police cell can be seen in the centre of the picture. The railway station can just be seen behind what was then the station corn stores run by Collis & Potter. The corn stores (now renamed as a ‘mill’) now houses a fitness studio and cafe. The whole of the area beyond the railway line, to the south of the town, which was then then open countryside is now entirely residential housing.
