The top of Broad Street, 1968. It is interesting to note the parking sign indicating that lights were not required until after 11pm. At this time it was a requirement that any vehicle parked in a 30 mph area had to show a white light at the front and a red light at the rear whilst parked. Due to lights draining the battery it was common for drivers at this time to carry a small parking light which would be plugged into the dashboard and fixed to the top of the door or window when it was shut.
