“Broad Street Fruiterers”, photographed in the 1960’s, at No 5, Broad Street. Mr Ron Lillywhite purchased the shop from Dr Peter Lyndon-Skeggs in the early ninteen sixties. Ron had previously worked for Dr Skeggs as his head gardener at Cardew House in East Street. Around 1967 the shop was taken over by Derek Gedye’s (electrical and tv) as an expansion of their shop next door. Since 1994 the shop has been occupied by “Sole’s Butchers”.
