The smouldering aftermath of the fire at the Vulcan iron Works in King's Worthy, 19 Sep 1907. The Vulcan Iron Works, built about 1882, was situated between the railway arch and King's Worthy church and produced hydraulic rams and similar machinery. The Hampshire Chronicle (21 Sep 1907) described the fire there as one of the most serious to break out in the immediate neighbourhood of Winchester in recent years, the intense heat twisting the machinery into fantastic shapes
